Specifying Software Quality Requirements via Unification and Quantification of Differing Viewpoints

چکیده

It is widely accepted that there are differing views; this paper asks whether a framework, incorporating these different viewpoints, can be constructed. These multiple perspectives of quality are a result of the commonly held view that quality is a multi-dimensional entity, with many factors 2. Kitchenham favours the ’fitness for needs’ definition, 3 which is an extension of Juran’s ”fitness for purpose” definition from the 1940s 4, which identifies functionality as the most important quality factor. A developer may view level of functionality as the principal factor for quality whilst a manager may consider cost to be particularly important; however they both may include reliability and usability as contributing to an overall image of quality.
